UPG: Avar

Primarily residing in the mountainous north near the Russian border (Quba and Khachmaz districts), the Avars are one of the oldest indigenous peoples of the Caucasus with a distinct language and a rich tradition of mountain agriculture and craftsmanship. Their communities have historically maintained strong clan structures and a deep spiritual life, often blending Islamic traditions with pre-Islamic cultural customs.

Psalm 146:8–9
"The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down. The Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the sojourners; he upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin."

Movement Principle
Distribute "Hot Coals"
Acts 1:8
“But when the Holy Spirit comes to you, you will receive power. You will be my witnesses—in Jerusalem, in all of Judea, in Samaria, and in every part of the world.”

————————

Let's Pray
• Ask God to bless an intentional “hot coals” strategy where disciples in a movement move to an unengaged unreached people or place where they have a connection (e.g. family tie, near culture) in order to start a multiplying movement there.
Father, You open the eyes of the blind and lift up those who are bowed down; we pray that the Avar people, with their deep spiritual life and clan structures, would see the light of Christ and be lifted from their spiritual burdens.
Jesus, we pray that every leader and disciple among the Avars would live in a way that is a good model for others, keeping their focus always on You and not on methods, materials, or the opinions of people.
Holy Spirit, watch over the sojourners and uphold the widows and fatherless among the Avars, breaking the way of the wicked and replacing it with Your righteousness and love.
