Kunming, capital city of the Yunnan province, is a large metropolis in southwestern China tucked into the fertile lake basin surrounding Lake Dian. The city is a major communications hub for southwestern China and center of the engineering industry for the nation.
China, having more than 4,000 years of recorded history, and occupying nearly the entire East Asian landmass, is the largest of all Asian countries and the most populous nation on earth. Often mistaken as ethnically homogenous, China is one of the most diverse and complex countries, hosting an array of indigenous peoples.
Kunming and the surrounding area is host to many of China's minorities, most of which live in remote villages. However, in recent year tea farmers and other agriculturalist from the mountianous regions of Yunnan have been movinig into the big city of Kunming for better educational and work opportunities. This urban clusturing allows them a chance to hear the good news of Jesus!
