Siliguri is a city in the West Bengal state of northern India. Siliguri sits at the intersection of several roads leading to the neighboring countries of Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and China (Tibet). Siliguri is popular for three Ts: Tea, Timber and Tourism. It is a beautiful and lushish city located on the banks of the Mahananda and the Teesta River in the foothills of the Himalayas. Due to its proximity to international borders, the city has become a crowded refugee center. Because of the rise in refugees from surrounding nations they face high burglary and theft rates. Their social welfare system is so overrun they lack significant resources to care for all the people who need it.
