Distribute "Hot Coals"

Disciple-Making Principle: Distribute "Hot Coals"

Have you ever tried to start a new fire with only a few logs, sticks and a match? It takes time; you must commit to spending all your focus and energy on getting this new fire started, or else it won't catch fire, or worse it will – but will soon be snuffed out.

However, if you take just one hot coal from an existing fire and place it with some fresh sticks and logs before you know it they have caught fire. Using a hot coal to start a fire requires less time and focused energy. This is the same in Disciple Making. A "hot coal" is a person or team of people sent out from an existing, thriving movement, into a new area (geographically, ethnically, linguistically) to help start a new movement there. Because they already have the experience and passion for starting new discovery groups, and eventually churches, these "hot coals" tend to spark a movement fire fast. Its not that outside catalysts can't see a new movement start from scratch, but it sure is easier to moblize the church body to help. When discipiles are excited about what God is doing around them they tend to share that excitement with others; it's contagious. We want to see these contagious disciple makers come to Turkey and spark a new movement here.

Prayer Point:

God, we ask you to bless the intentional “hot coals” strategy, where disciples in a movement move to an unengaged unreached people or place where they have a connection (e.g. family tie, near culture) in order to start a multiplying movement there. Jesus, we know you have already sent some "hot coals" to Turkey after the 2023 Earthquake. We pray for the discovery groups that have started because of these disciple makers, to grow in depth and wisdom and insight. Lord, send more disciple makers to Istanbul too! Let there be a movement of your presence here. Jesus, mobilize your church in Turkey to join in on the excitement of making disciples.

Understand the Urgency

February 4, 2025

Disciplemaking Principle: Understand the Urgency of the Task Jesus tells his disciples that we will not know the hour in which he will return, but that we should always be ready. Disciple Making Movements focus on the urgency of the task at hand - all peoples, nations, tribes and languages hearing the good news of Christ.

Rejoice and Sing!

February 3, 2025

Psalm 66:4-7 "Everything on earth will worship you;     they will sing your praises,     shouting your name in glorious songs. Come and see what our God has done,     what awesome miracles he performs for people! He made a dry path through the Red Sea,     and his people went across on foot.     There we rejoiced in him. For by his great power he rules forever.     He watches every movement of the nations;     let no rebel rise in defiance."
