The Pomak in Turkey

Let's pray specifically for one of the unreached people groups living in Turkey today

2 Corinthians 3:4-5

"We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God."

The Pomak People

The name Pomak means, "people who have suffered." Some consider this Slavic people a subgroup of the Bulgarians. The largest Pomak population is in Turkey, and they were relatively isolated from other Muslims for centuries. Their language even lacks many religious words vital to the Islamic faith and traditions. The Pomaks in Turkey have an identity crisis — they faced rejection by the Bulgarians (for their religion), and the Turks (for their language).

Prayer Point:

Jesus, thank you that you know what it is to suffer. You are a man of sorrows who was rejected by his own people. Help the Pomak in Turkey to derive their identity as a child of God first, a citizen of heaven. Thank you that the Pomak people have an eternal home with you and that we can have confidence of this because of our great trust in God through Christ. We pray for the few current believers in Turkey and all future disciples to understand their privilege to be disciple makers. Pray that their confidence will be from knowing Jesus rather than in education, experiences, or training. Pray for every believer to be released as a disciple maker. We ask that many Pomak people would also become disciple makers.

Understand the Urgency

February 4, 2025

Disciplemaking Principle: Understand the Urgency of the Task Jesus tells his disciples that we will not know the hour in which he will return, but that we should always be ready. Disciple Making Movements focus on the urgency of the task at hand - all peoples, nations, tribes and languages hearing the good news of Christ.

Rejoice and Sing!

February 3, 2025

Psalm 66:4-7 "Everything on earth will worship you;     they will sing your praises,     shouting your name in glorious songs. Come and see what our God has done,     what awesome miracles he performs for people! He made a dry path through the Red Sea,     and his people went across on foot.     There we rejoiced in him. For by his great power he rules forever.     He watches every movement of the nations;     let no rebel rise in defiance."
