Disciplemaking Principle: Overcome Persecution and Suffering Disciples who are trying to multiply disciples to start movements can expect persecution, spiritual warfare, and suffering. At first, the persecution is likely to come from the existing church Body unfortunately. Later, when the disciple-making groups start to multiply rapidly and thousands are coming to faith, it is difficult not to be noticed. That is when external persecution is likely. Disciples may be targeted by authorities, called in for questioning, deported, or worse.

Disciplemaking Principle: Develop Indigenous Praise and Worship Encouraging local followers to create their own forms of praise and worship is a really important element of how disciples in movements do church together, so that church looks as familiar and normal as it can in that cultural setting. The church works thoughtfully and prayerfully to indigenize praising Jesus into the forms that make sense today so that the church forms don’t look like Western churches and therefore erode people’s identity in their ethnicity or their nationality. They can fully be Christians within their national context.

Disciplemaking Principle: Be Led By The Holy Spirit When the Spirit moves in a people group or city amazing things can happen. Movements today testify that many discovery bible studies begin because of an encounter with God. Many disciplemakers are led to lost people who need a miracle and this encounter with God kickstarts a discovery study group. Movement leaders tell of the Spirit leading them to new people and place, speaking for them when the enemy attacks, and giving them wisdom and knowledge previously unknown. The Spirit opens the doors for obedient disciplemakers to walk through. Pray for each disciple of Christ to remain close to Jesus and be led by the Spirit each and every day.

Disciplemaking Principle: Multiply New Disciples and Churches Movements around the world measure their effectiveness by measuring how many healthy new disciples are making more healthy new disciples, and how many healthy churches are reproducing new healthy churches. Multiplication is instilled as DNA from the very first discovery bible study. Members are asked to obey the word and share the story they just learned with someone who needs to hear it. They are then taught that when they find an interested seeker they should encourage them to start their own discovery group. In this way discovery groups, and eventually churches, are multiplied quickly and effectively.

Disciplemaking Principle: Go Slow to Go Fast In disciple making we want to focus on the foundations first; building character qualities and healthy DNA that will result in great depth and fruit. Movements often say "Focus on a few to win many." Jesus focused on the 12 disciples and mentored them for 3 years, and from them the church grew quickly. It takes time to develop healthy disciples worth multiplying, but when they do multiply they will produce healthy generational churches that are self sustaining and reproducing. Go slow now, in order to see the gospel spread faster and farther later.
