City of Light: Ramadan day 14
Another of the 5 pillars of Islam is fasting. This month Muslims around the world fast from dawn till dusk from food and water. Many don't know why they fast besides that it is a requirement. It can be hard especially when Ramazan is in summer (Islam goes by the lunar calendar so Ramazan moves each year) and for those who work in hard labor or outdoors.
Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matt 11:28-30)
Today we pray for Muslims in Karachi in the midst of their fasting to seek rest, that as they feel the weight of religious 'law' that they would find the one who came to "…to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners…" (Isa 61:1) and find rest and freedom in Him.
Praying today:
You are the God of dreams and visions. Lord, we pray that during this month of fasting, you would visit our Muslim brothers and sisters in the night in dreams. And we pray, too, that you would visit them during the day in open visions. Release hope. Release peace. Release revelation of Christ in the hearts of the people of Karachi.
